Rick Nelson has been instructing cycling classes for the past 21 years and at last count, has taught over 3200 classes. He brings a ton of enthusiasm to every class he teaches and is on a mission to make his clients enjoy themselves while he pushes them to reach their personal goals. He doesn't mind clients "hating" him DURING class as long as they say "thank you and see you next week" with a smile on their faces as they leave. Rick feels that working out should be a key part of everyone’s weekly activities and the benefits of working out far outweigh the efforts and toughness of actually working out. As mentioned he has a long history of instructing cycling classes but also has a real passion for instructing his Band/Yoga Fusion and Muscle Conditioning classes.
On some personal notes he races mountain bikes competitively and enjoys hammering both the trails and roads as well as enjoying competitive kayaking. He is also on a personal quest to mountain bike in all 50 States. Thus far he has conquered 49 states leaving Alaska as the lone state to visit and ride.
My passion for exercise and choreography started as a young child. After 14 years of dance I decided to take it to a new level. While working towards my bachelor’s degree in health education at Worcester state college, I completed a personal training course and received a certificate in geriatric health. Then came my most EXTREME challenge...motherhood to 4 awesome children...to balance the stress i found EXTREME sports! Triathlons, century rides...mud runs....SPIN! My certifications include maddog spin, group ex/boot camp, and aqua aerobics! There is no better feeling than to look out into a full class of people who feel the same exhilaration as I do during an intense ride! It’s never too late...it’s never too early to get fit.....it's an ageless process..... In life...like on the bike...add Gear and ....FLY!
Tarah has been teaching group fitness classes for the last 15 years. She has taught across NY, NJ, RI & MA. Inside the gym, Tarah loves to motivate, inspire & encourage athletes to be the best version of themselves. After playing Field Hockey in college, Tarah took her fitness to the next level by becoming a successful marathon runner & half ironman competitor. Placing 2nd Female in the South Africa Marathon and finishing as the 6th American woman for China's Great Wall Marathon, Tarah truly inspires. Competing in close to a dozen marathons and dozens of triathlons, Tarah's passion certainly lies in fitness. Outside the gym, Tarah works full time as a Senior Designer for a large children's apparel company in Massachusetts. Growing up on the South Shore of Mass, she now lives in Northbridge with her husband & two children. She couldn't be more excited to to be part of the RPM Cycling Studio. Let's ride!
Who would have thought (certainly not me!) that at the age of 40-something I would take on the task of starting up a spin studio! Well, I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and with many years of being an entrepreneur I couldn’t say no when approached on this endeavor! Certified in spin for several years and one thing I have always said is never take for granted those little jobs or hobbies/interests you have learned. You would be surprised where they will take you! An active childhood proved to me you can do anything you put your mind to doing. And as a mother of 3 grown boys, I took that determination and love of sports (years of dance, waterskiing, basketball and even cheerleading) into my life as a mom. Taking up karate just to find something I could share with all my boys! I wanted to show them what I had been taught growing up. A massage therapist for 9+ years has shown me the importance a healthy lifestyle has to allow me to stay active and productive. RPM has been a true pleasure and blessing in my life. The instructors and clients I have met since opening the doors in 2013 have truly changed my life! Certification in Pilates 2 years ago has given me a balance I need at this stage of my life. I look forward to MY journey with all of you and hope more people will take RPM along for THEIR ride.
My fitness career began almost 20 years ago (hard to believe.....I must have been only 9 years old). At the time, I was taking group aerobics classes at a local studio, when the owner approached me about teaching there. I thought it would be a great opportunity to share my passion for health and wellness with others. I earned my Primary Group Exercise Certification shortly there after and have been learning and growing ever since. I currently hold additional certifications in Indoor Cycling, Kickboxing and Piloxing.
I love to partner with people and assist in their journey towards finding strength and happiness through exercise. My goal is to motivate and support my "workout buddies" with their fitness goals...while remembering to HAVE FUN!
When I'm not at RPM, I'm usually spending time outdoors with my husband...hiking, biking, kayaking or trying something new! I work full-time as a dental hygienist, where I'm just as passionate about promoting oral health!
